How to take care of your new concrete

You’ve put so much time and effort to get your new concrete driveway or patio and now you want to make sure that you can do everything you can to extend the life and keep it looking great for many years to come.

Proper maintenance can make sure that your concrete keeps looking like a welcome mat, not an eye sore. The best thing is that maintaining concrete is simpler than you think and you can handle it yourself.

Limit the Weight

We all know that concrete is strong and durable, but the concrete that is used for residential jobs is not design to hold heavy weight. Your driveway is capable of handling the weight of your car, motorcycle or regular everyday vehicles but not oversized vehicles.

Clean your Concrete

Just like any other elements of your property, you want to maintain your concrete clean in order to remove dirt and debris and maintain the original attractive look. There are many options to clean concrete that can fit your specific needs.

Don’t take Long to Remove Stains

Clean stains and spills as soon as you notice them even if you know that the concrete sealer helps protect your concrete. If you see oil from your vehicle in your driveway, clean it as soon as you can so that you prevent discoloration or staining.

Make sure your concrete is sealed

Sealing your concrete creates a layer of protection and it also makes it keep looking nice. You can apply topical sealers every few years so that it doesn’t get stained or incur surface damage. We recommend that you seal the concrete according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
